Wouldn't it be great to visit new friends in France, be welcomed as a dear distant friend or long-lost relative, stay at their home, plunge into their way of life, and dine on their worldclass cuisine? During the last week of June 2013 you can! The Sister City organization will lead a delegation to Noirmoutier, France, Crestview's sister city, this summer. For the cost of membership dues (starting at $2 for students, $30 for a family), you can stay absolutely free with a host family in Noirmoutier and join the fun as the island community celebrates the 75th anniversary of the arrival on the island of the crew of a liberating American B-17 bomber. There's a week-worth of events planned, plus an optional two-day excursion to the island monastery of Mont Saint Michel and the Normandy D-Day landing beaches. (Attendees must organize their own airfare and transportation to Nantes, the nearest large city to Noirmoutier.) Join this informational event at the Crestview Public Library to learn more about the Sister City program and the summer exchange in Noirmoutier. The information night is free, and the Crestview High School French Club will serve homemade crêpes.
