On 28 September 2019 the Far West Florida Artist Blacksmith Association (FABA) chapter will conduct a "hammer in" at Traditions Workshop on Green Acres Rd., all interested persons are welcome at all FABA meetings Blacksmiths will demonstrate forging and related techniques at this event, and there will also be hands-on learning opportunities for FABA members (the whole family can join FABA for only $30/year at the meeting or at https://blacksmithing.org/join/ if you want to try your hand at the forge). Florida Artist Blacksmith Association (FABA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to teaching and preserving the art and craft of the blacksmith. Blacksmithing is a satisfying craft, and a rewarding art. Using traditional processes with a 2,000 year history you can forge almost anything you can imagine, from the purely functional to the purely artistic. Come join us in the fun! For any blacksmithing event please wear cotton or natural fabric clothing, long trousers and solid shoes or boots are required, long sleeve cotton (not flannel) shirt highly recommended. We supply your steel, coal, tools, working materials, gloves, eye and ear protection, plus dust masks when necessary but if you have a leather apron you might want to bring it.
