Bundrick Honey Farms will present "Beekeeping Basics" for the Tuesday, April 29th Evening Library Time at the Crestview Public Library.
All over America, city beekeepers are keeping a few honey bee hives in their backyards. Learn what is involved: how, when and where to establish a hive, and what you will need to do so. If you’re thinking about starting a bee hive or are just curious about what’s involved with keeping bees, then this is a great introductory presentation for you. This short presentation is designed for absolute beginners so no prerequisite knowledge is required. We will present to you how the honey bee lives and tell you how to get started with your own hive. This is a very short presentation relatively and there will be no hands-on beekeeping so protective clothing and bravery will not be necessary. This beginning beekeeper’s introduction will introduce participants to the respectful ways of keeping honeybees. It is designed to build basic beekeeping skills; topics covered include the honeybee society and biology, equipment, starting colonies, and spring management requirements.
