BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS’ DAY FOR KIDS – WHERE ADULTS CAN ACT LIKE KIDS AGAIN, WITH THEIR KIDS
BGCEC’s “Pledge to Play” theme encourages adults to go out, get active, and spend time with youth.
Fort Walton Beach, FL – August 22, 2012 – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Emerald Coast (BGCEC) is gearing up to celebrate Day for Kids! This annual, free community event highlights the importance of adults and children spending meaningful time together. While many Americans recognize this importance and its link to tough issues facing young people, many don’t always have the time, skills, or resources to do as much for their children as they would like. Through Day for Kids, BGCEC is urging every adult to play a part in ensuring a brighter future for our young people by getting involved and becoming more engaged with their child, or young person’s, life. Day for Kids’ theme, Pledge to Play, encourages adults to go out, get active, and spend time with youth.
“Boys & Girls Clubs’ Day for Kids is focused on fostering stronger relationships between adults and children by emphasizing the importance of spending meaningful time together.” Stephanie Rhoden, Club Director of BGCEC—South Walton, “Our hope is that Day for Kids will help facilitate open communication between parents, mentors, and kids that will reenergize the community and help our young people reach their full potential – not just for the day, but all year long.”
In Okaloosa Couny, hundreds of parents and kids will celebrate Day for Kids with a variety of family-friendly, fun, entertaining, and educational activities. Live entertainment, music, play-dough making, art showcase, hat making, kickball, basketball, 3-legged races, bean bag toss, hula hoop competitions, frisbee games, kite flying, and MUCH more! Arts, crafts, and food vendors will also be there to help celebrate the day. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, and inner child and spend the day with your family at Day for Kids!
